Moore to release free film online

Inspired by Neil Young and Radiohead, Michael Moore testament release his new film online and for free.

The film, Slacker Uprising, follows Moores 62-city tour during the 2004 U.S. election to exchange young voters. It testament be available for three weeks as a release download to North American residents beginning Sept. 23.

Moore said he considered cathartic Slacker Uprising theatrically as Michael Moores big election year movie as he did with 2004s Fahrenheit 9/11, which was highly critical of U.S. President George W. Bush.

Instead, Moore opted for a symbol of gratitude to his fans as he approaches the twentieth anniversary of his first base film, 1989s Roger and Me.

I view itd be a nice way to celebrate my 20th yr of doing this, Moore aforesaid. And likewise help arrive out the vote for November. Ive been cerebration about what I want to do to facilitate with the election this year.

The 97-minute long Slacker Uprising testament be the first major film to be released in such a way.

Last December, Jackass 2.5 was streamed online and for free, but that was only a ingathering of remnant material from Jackass 2.

Experimentation in dispersion has been more common in the music industry, where the Internet has damaged traditional business models.

Moore took observance when Radiohead last year released their seventh album, In Rainbows, online with optional pricing. In 2006, Neil Young streamed his anti-war album Living With War for free before its standard release now a more common practice.

If history is whatsoever measure, Slacker Uprising could have made a adequate sum in theatres. His last two films, Sicko ($24 gazillion US) and Fahrenheit Sept. 11 ($119 1000000) are deuce of the three highest-grossing documentaries ever.

Power Ranger takes to Auckland stage

Power Ranger’s star Michelle Langstone is leaving behind superhero action for something a little more grown-up.

The 29-year-old Ponsonby resident is well known for her roles on Power Rangers and McLeod’s Daughters. Now she plays the centre of a love triangle in the Harold Pinter story Betrayal, on at the Herald Theatre.

She stars alongside Oliver Driver and Colin Moy.

Michelle takes on the role of Emma, a wife whose illicit affair destroys her marriage and sabotages a friendship.

"It’s a really grown-up play for me in a lot of ways," she says.

In an unusual twist, Betrayal is told in reverse chronological order, starting at the end of the affair and tracking back to the forbidden first kiss.

"It’s quite complicated, but in a really compelling and engaging way," she says.

Michelle says working with the script by Pinter, winner of the Nobel prize for literature, has been rewarding.

"It’s an amazing, timeless, beautiful play and it’s a story anyone can relate to."

She says the play has also been a "wonderful shift" and quite a change for her after her most recent appearance on the action-packed series Power Rangers.

Michelle describes her time on the series as imaginative, crazy, and "so much fun", but says it is nice to swap screen acting for the stage, something she tries to do once a year.

She plans to head to Australia at the end of this year and see where the work takes her.

"New Zealand will always be my home and I really love it but I also like the challenge of setting myself adrift."

Betrayal runs at the Herald Theatre until July 19.

Alicia Keys' prescribed web site said she possesses an "old soul," and the hard facts seem to back up the implied title of wiseness and see that transcend her youth. Barely in her mid-twenties, Keys was responsible for an highly hot debut, Songs in A Minor. The release, which she wrote and produced for Clive Davis' J Records, blends diverse influences, including R&B, hip-hop, classical, and jazz. The day the album went on the grocery, it sold more than 50,000 copies. Label executives confidently predicted similarly lucky numbers racket for the first week's tally.

Around the time that Songs in A Minor was released, Keys was popping up everyplace, including an Associated Press narration. Where had she been before then? Her entire life, it seems, had been an accelerated encyclopaedism have, preparing her for a career in music. A Manhattan aboriginal, her musical gifts became unmistakable when she was five-spot eld old. As a choir major enrolled in Manhattan's Professional Performance Arts School, she farther developed her vocal talents with extra aid from a teacher. By the time she was 16, Keys graduated and entered Columbia University. Music beckoned, however, and she quickly left hand Columbia behind.

Keys was writing songs when she was 14, with vII days of forte-piano lessons under her belt by that time. In later on age, she appeared on moving picture soundtracks, including Shaft and Hands in Black. In 1998, she signed a deal with Arista Records when the company triumphed in a bidding warfare over other labels. When Davis left the caller for J Records in 1999, Keys went along. Davis promoted the careers of such artists as Carlos Santana and Whitney Houston, and character of his launch strategy for Keys was to secure exposure on BET and MTV, as well as on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Her 2001 major-label debut, Songs in A Minor, hit issue one, went multi-platinum, and was followed in 2003 by another chart-topper, The Diary of Alicia Keys, which became a Grammy victor. The live CD/DVD Unplugged appeared in 2005, following her late releases to the peak of the charts. Two long time later, Keys released her third base studio full-length, the poppier As I Am, which included donation from Linda Perry and John Mayer, among others.

Jessica Simpson Talks Tony Romo

The relationship between pop star Jessica Simpson and football star Tony Romo seems to be of endless interest to the general public. Which explains why the co-hosts of “The View” took the time to hear some semi-syrupy statements from the singer on Wednesday.

There have long been rumors that Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo are barely surviving as a couple or that they have split up altogether but he blonde-haired singer took the time Wednesday morning, while talking with Barbara Walters on “The View,” to explain how much she and her boyfriend are in love.

Asked about distant or perhaps nearer wedding bells, Simpson made a quick mathematical exercise and explained, “We’ve been together for … seven to almost eight months now.”

“I don't really know about wedding bells … I still love him, and I’m still with him, so that’s a good sign,” the singer said, thus denying speculation that they have separated.

Simpson, 27, and the Dallas Cowboys star, 28, have been tabloid fodder ever since they first appeared in public. Not much of the attention has been kind. It was most unkind when several consecutive appearances of hers at Romo’s games coincided with bad results for his team, leading his fans to say she jinxed him.

The hostile reaction seems to not deter Simpson from standing by her man, as she said Wednesday that she will be back in the stands when Romo’s team kicks off the football season in September.

Simpson also had kind words to say about her younger sister, singer Ashlee Simpson, who is married to Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz and expecting her first baby. “She sent me a picture of her belly. She’s popping, it’s so cute,” she exclaimed.
